A professional tender specification for an aeration system must clearly define the required performance profile and process conditions so that oxygen transfer, mixing performance, and energy demand can be evaluated and verified.
At a minimum, the required oxygen transfer rate (SOTR) for relevant load cases, basin geometry, water depth, and usable aeration area must be specified. Operating conditions such as water temperature, air pressure, submergence depth, and, where applicable, the alpha factor, as well as mixing requirements, may also be defined. These parameters directly affect process stability, oxygen transfer, and energy efficiency.
Additional useful specifications include material requirements, aerator type, minimum functional requirements, redundancy, maintainability, and guaranteed performance values such as oxygen transfer capacity. For legally reliable acceptance testing, defined verification procedures should also be included, such as clean-water oxygen transfer testing in accordance with DIN EN 12255-15 and, where appropriate, supplementary verification of mixing performance under operating conditions.
